Why India doesn’t prefer Samsung’s Exynos Processors?

You should probably know that since years Samsung has been selling flagship phones of different variants in different parts of the world. Usually Samsung’s Flagship phones in India are based on Samsung Exynos SOC, while the US variant gets Snapdragon SOC. The company did the same with their Galaxy S20 smartphones. The Exynos users of the device (especially Indians) aren’t happy with Samsung over this decision.
According to many, Samsung Exynos Processors are inferior to Snapdragon series. There’s even a petition on Change.org and it states that Samsung Exynos processors are inferior to Snapdragon variants. Further, the petition also mentions that Samsung uses Sony sensors in US variants and its own ISOCELL sensors in smartphones which are for other countries like India. People also claim that Exynos processors consume more battery, along with heating issue and a delivers a laggy UI experience.

The most important thing to note here is, there are two types of people, the ones who genuinely possess good amount of knowledge on the topic, while on the other hand there are the ones who don’t even own a Exynos device but they tend to blindly follow the crowd. Talking about the Petition, the people who are supporting the petition want Samsung to sell Qualcomm-based devices with Sony camera sensors across the globe and not only in the US.
Major differences that you should know
Looking at the matter from a developer’s angle, I would agree that there are some major differences between both the variants.
- The first one would be installing Custom Roms and playing around with the device after unlocking the bootloader. Not to forget that Snapdragon SOCs gets high community support for modding, rooting, changing system files or the whole Operating System.
- The second one is the Optimization that Snapdragon device receives. Both the Processors supports all the applications available on Google PlayStore but on the same time you can expect Snapdragon to perform a little better, as it is a global choice for most.
- Snapdragon devices can be overclocked easily just by flashing a custom kernel made for the specific device, while on the other hand Exynos chips usually have a lower clock speed.
Talking from the General consumer angle, Most people aren’t interested in unlocking and playing around with root settings on their device, for them there’s not much difference between a Exynos and a Snapdragon based device. If you’re one of them and you’ve made it to this part of the article then here’s what to need to know about your Exynos powered device.
- Did you know that Samsung’s Exynos 990 chip has a dual core custom GPU + dual core Cortex A76 and a dual core cortex A55 CPU, if you didn’t understand what it means then just know that basically the Exynos 990 chip has enough power to handle all the load that you put on it and that also in a Long-run.
- You might have noticed lower clock speeds of Exynos but that doesn’t matter as Exynos uses the cores in a more systematic manner like smaller cores run smaller tasks, while bigger ones are there for heavy load.
- The Exynos processors can launch apps more faster than traditional Snapdragon Chips.

Conclusion
To be exact here, there are only some differences between the processors, but that depends on who you are personally. A device with an Exynos Chip will handle all the load you throw at it without compromising on performance, even the Snapdragon will do the same but it also depends on the task. If you prefer running games with higher graphics demand more than apps then you should probably go for the Snapdragon version because of its optimization. On the other hand if you are looking for a phone which can just do it all on a long-run without slowing down then Exynos is what you should consider, thanks to its capacity to fire apps at a faster rate, the speed, right when you need it.
