Qualcomm Snapdragon 888: The next big thing

Qualcomm is now official with its Snapdragon 888 Flagship processor. Qualcomm has officially announced the Snapdragon 888 chip, the chipset is the latest flagship processor from the firm which houses a X60 5G modem, along with a Hexagon engine for the AI-related functions. The chipset also packs a exceptionally faster GPU than its predecessors.

Smartphone manufacturing company Xiaomi has officially announced that the firm’s latest Mi 11 series phones will run on the Snapdragon 888 processor. One of the key feature in this chip is its X60 5G modem, the modem includes global Sub-6 and mmWave connectivity, global multi-SIM, along with dynamic spectrum sharing.

We suspect that the chip might be built on 5nm architecture, as the X60 modem is built on the 5nm node. The X60 5G modem allows 5G carrier aggregation between Sub-6 and mmWave bands, this wasn’t possible with its predecessors like the X50, X55. The Spectra ISP here now allows us to click pictures and shoot videos at 2.7 gigapixels a second, roughly speaking 120 photos at 12MP resolution.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Elite Gaming suite is also getting an update, that’s full of optimizations, this will also optimize the support for 144hz displays. The GPU is also claimed to be a key spec of the chip, we are talking about the latest & greatest GPU ever made for Snapdragon chips.
