Have you ever faced sudden FPS ( frames per second ) drop ? or low FPS after after few minutes while gaming ? Well it can be a headache for low spec gamers and content creators.

Here’s a short guide to teach you how CPU Thermal Throttling works and how you can control it to get more out of your CPU. Heat is a byproduct of work. It is generated when you start a car’s engine or anything else that generates friction. Heat is also very much prevalent in electronics where it can be more difficult to manage. When it comes to CPUs there are many ways to manage heat, from passive cooling, to fans and even water. You might have heard about under-volting your CPU, there’s also a myth that undervolting reduces the overall performance of the CPU, it’s not true at all. Under volting just simply means reducing the voltage usage of the CPU, not the Clock speed.

* Hence less voltage ~ less heat but at the same clock speed.

There are certain ways to do it and here i’ll be showing you the easiest way to do it .

Pre-requirements : 1) ThrottleStop application.

2) A windows computer/laptop.

After installing the application, open it while allowing administrator rights and it would look something like the picture below.

On the right hand side below you will get the setting named FIVR below Limits, click on FIVR and then make sure you click on “ Ok-save voltages immediately “ option, then tick the option named as unlock adjustable voltage and below that you will get Offset voltage setting, just keep that at -100mV and make sure you put the same value on CPU Cache as well as Intel GPU options below FIVR and press ok and restart your PC/Laptop.

And it’s done! Not much of a rocket science right?

Down below we also have a YouTube tutorial of doing this by one of our teammate.
